Here we are with another list of the Top 10 Poorest countries in the world. These countries have nominal GDP Per Capita PPP-based income, that's why have included these countries in our list.
On number 10 we have Madagascar. It is an island country in the Indian Ocean, approximately 400 kilometers (250 miles) off the coast of East Africa. Political Strifes, coups, and political instability are some of the hurdles faced by Madagascar's economy. Its GDP Per Capita (PPP-based) is 1700 International Dollars. Its economy is mainly dependent on agriculture and dairy products. In recent years Madagascar has witnessed some improvement in tourism, mineral resources, and industry and there is hope on the horizon.
9: Comoros
On number 9 we have Comoros. Comoros is an island country in the Indian Ocean located at the northern end of the Mozambique Channel off the eastern coast of Africa. After its independence in 1975 more than 20 attempted coups, several assassinations of its heads of state, and constant political instability has led its people to big misery. Its GDP Per Capita (PPP-based) is 1670 International Dollars. Agriculture contributes 40% to GDP, employs 80% of the labor force, and provides most of the exports. Comoros is the world's largest producer of ylang-ylang and a large producer of vanilla.
8: South Sudan
On number 8 we have South Sudan. South Sudan is situated in East-Central Africa. It gained its independence from the Republic of Sudan in 2011, making it one of the newest countries. Despite being host to extensive natural resources like oil, iron ore, copper, chromium ore, zinc, tungsten, mica, silver, gold, and diamonds, etc south Sudan is one of the most underdeveloped nations. South Sudan is a landlocked country and for all of its exports, its dependent on neighbor Sudan which shares South Sudan profits 50 50 for giving it access to its port. Its GDP Per Capita (PPP-based) is 1440 International Dollars. About 98% of South Sudan's income comes from oil and it is still dependent on foreign aid.
7: Liberia
On number 7 we have Liberia. Liberia is situated in West Africa. Liberia was hard hit by the coup, civil wars which almost killed 8% of its entire population, ebola attack, and the inability of the government to introduce reforms. Historically, the Liberian economy has depended heavily on foreign aid, foreign direct investment, and exports of natural resources such as iron ore, rubber, and timber. Its GDP Per Capita (PPP-based) is 1380 International Dollars. Liberia's economy is dependent mostly on agriculture and natural minerals besides foreign aid.
6: Mozambique
On number 6 we have Mozambique. Mozambique is a country located in southeast Africa. Mozambique is endowed with rich and extensive natural resources but of no benefit to its people. Corruption, lack of modern equipment for agriculture, poor infrastructure, lack of clean water, and civil war for around 16 years are the main hurdles for its development. Its GDP Per Capita (PPP-based) is 1340 International Dollars. Mozambique's economy is mostly dependent on agriculture but industry related to food, beverages, chemicals, aluminum, petroleum, and tourism is now taking its part and is on the rise.

5: Niger
On number 5 we have Niger. Niger is a landlocked country in West Africa, named after River niger and 80% of its land area is comprised of the Sahara Desert. Droughts, growing population, lack of enough food and water, and terrorist activities are some of the main reasons which do not let Niger develop. Its GDP Per Capita (PPP-based) is 1270 International Dollars. The economy of Niger is dependent on subsistence crops, livestock, foreign aid, and some of the world's largest uranium deposits.
4: Malawi
On number 4 we have Malawi. Malawi, officially known as the Republic of Malawi is a landlocked country in southeast Africa that was formerly known as Nyasaland. Malawi's economy is based on agriculture, and more than one-third of GDP and 90% of export revenues come from agriculture. Besides that Malawi is dependent on foreign aid for its development projects. Many droughts, climate changes, and diseases have hit this country very hard. Its GDP Per Capita (PPP-based) is 1250 International Dollars. Agriculture accounts for 35% of GDP, industry for 19%, and services for the remaining 46%.
3: Democratic Republic Of Congo
On number 3 we have the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is located in central sub-Saharan Africa and it is the only country located where Central and Southern Africa converge. It is the second-largest country by area in Africa. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is extremely rich in natural resources but has had political instability, decades of strifes, and runaway militias have never let the country grow. Its GDP Per Capita (PPP-based) is 842.87 International Dollars. DRC) is the world's largest producer of cobalt ore and a major producer of copper and diamonds. Dem Rep of Congo is the biggest supplier of raw materials in the world.
2: The Central African Republic
On number 2 we have the Central African Republic. The Central African Republic is a landlocked nation within the interior of the African continent. The Central African Republic possesses significant deposits of diamonds, uranium, gold, and oil. But since its independence in 1960, never-ending revolutions, civil wars, and other armed conflicts have derailed the country’s progress. Its GDP Per Capita (PPP-based) is 749.54 International Dollars. Its main export is diamonds which bring about 45% of the total export revenues but it is estimated that about half of the diamonds are sold in the black market denying any taxes on their sale.
1: Burundi
On number one we have Burundi. Burundi is a small African country in the great lakes region of East Africa. Burundi is a resource-poor country with an underdeveloped manufacturing sector. Ethnic outbreaks of violence, frequent military coups, and never-ending political unrests have made the situation even worse. Burundi's GDP Per Capita (PPP-based) is 729.89 International Dollars and about 80% of its population lives under the poverty line. About 90% of the population is dependent on agriculture. Tea and coffee are main exports which make about 50% of its GDP while for the rest it's dependent on foreign aid. Burundi often faces a shortage of food and clean water and which has resulted in a 60 percent child malnutrition rate. World Happiness Index has rated them the world's least happy in 2018.
